Los Angeles, CA – A tragic accident early Sunday morning in Hacienda Heights, Los Angeles, left one person dead and dozens injured after a fiery crash between an SUV and a tour bus on the 60 Freeway. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash occurred shortly after 5 a.m. when a Nissan SUV stalled in the westbound lanes and was rear-ended by a tour bus carrying 63 passengers.

The SUV was engulfed in flames by the time first responders arrived, and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. While the bus did not catch fire, two people were critically injured and a total of 32 were taken to local hospitals with various injuries. The impact caused the bus to veer across all westbound lanes and crash into a guardrail.

CHP reports that neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be factors, but the reason for the SUV being stopped on the roadway remains unknown. The bus was reportedly traveling from Indio to Koreatown at the time of the crash. The incident led to extended traffic delays as westbound lanes remained partially closed for several hours.
